Hypnotherapy is not a single form of therapy but uses many approaches that are applied using hypnosis. This makes Hypnotherapy an extremely powerful form of therapy.
Fully qualified, fully insured and registered with the GHR, the largest professional register of hypnotherapists in the country.
Hypnosis is a powerful yet perfectly safe and natural frame of mind. Some estimate that we enter this relaxed state naturally four to eight times every hour.
Hypnotherapy is a therapy that is complementary not alternative. It can help with many medical issues and is used increasingly in the NHS.

You are normal
If you experience something you are told is a panic attack, it may be unpleasant but you are completely normal – it will not kill you and you are not going mad! You are perfectly normal.
Your body is overreacting
Most of us learned in school about the “fight or flight” mechanism. The hormone adrenalin is pumped into us in response to a trigger for action. Unfortunately, in our modern world things can move a little too fast for this mechanism. For example, we experience a near miss while driving but it is not until the danger has gone that our heart and breathing rate elevate.
Everyone experiences panic
The human body is incredible but not fool proof. Our “fight or flight” mechanism can be triggered by random internal events as well as external ones. Most people experience the odd blip and just accept it, making a subconscious note just in case it reoccurs.
"Panic Attack" is just a label
If one was just about to score the winning touch down at Twickenham or rescue a drowning child one would be grateful for the surge of energy that the “fight or flight” mechanism provides but it is confusing if there is no apparent reason for it. If some “kind” person labels you as having had a “panic attack” (an event you have not control over) you may start to fear its reoccurrence. In a similar way to which one might develop a phobia ones fear of having another panic attack starts to cause panic attacks.
Benefiting from panic attacks – secondary gain
If a panic attack results in the provision of help and understanding and the panic was partly due to lack of such support, this can increase the likelihood of further panic attacks. The process is called secondary gain. Unfortunately, secondary gain can create a vicious circle of expectation: increasing the frequency or severity of the “attacks”. Secondary gain is not recognised at a conscious level but needs to be addressed if panic is to be controlled.
Hypnotherapy to cure panic attacks
With the correct treatment hypnotherpy can cure your panic attacks. Hypnotherapy treatment with Stephen Rigby can be extremely effective in addressing any emotion and resolving any secondary gain that may perpetuate panic. Hypnotherapy can help you cure your panic attacks and regain control of your life. You may like to read how one lady used hypnotherapy as a cure for panic attacks.

When is a Panic Attack not a Panic Attack? -
Applying the label “attack” to your experience of panic suggests it comes from an external source and is therefore outside of your control. If you accept it is a mental process that is causing the problem, physical and mental relief will come when you learn to control that process.
On this website the term “panic attack” is used because, unfortunately, that is what sufferers are “unhelpfully” told they experience and that is what they search on for help!
